PCC Kutno Terminal celebrates the 15th anniversary of its grand opening

In September 2011, one of the largest and most modern land terminals in our part of Europe – the PCC Terminal in Kutno – started operating.

The construction of the facility began in the spring of 2010. Initially, the terminal was planned as a green field investment divided into 4 stages. But very quickly, after the first months of operation, it turned out that the schedule needed to be accelerated and corrected. The terminal was completed in 2 steps, and then gradually retrofitted and expanded.

Initially, the facility was able to handle 250 thousand TEUs, but thanks to the support from EU funds, the operator expanded the machinery to 5 loading cranes, which took over a significant part of the transshipment from mobile reachstaker machines and expanded the terminal so that today it is able to handle over 350 thousand TEUs per year .

Kutno, as a central point at the intersection of 2 main communication routes, the North-South and East-West corridors, has always been an important point on the PCC’s intermodal map, but since the launch of the terminal, it has become a key element of the network of regular, daily intermodal connections and has enabled the rapid development of container services both in domestic and international corridors.

Today, the terminal in Kutno is visited by services from the Baltic Hub container terminal in Gdańsk 3 times a day , and trains 2 times a day in relation to the Gdynia sea terminals BCT and GCT. Kutno operates daily intermodal services to Upper and Lower Silesia and the Podkarpacie region. Intermodal trains pass through Kutno on the route from/to Rotterdam (2 times a day), Anwerp (6 times a week), Duisburg and Hamburg (5 times a week). From Central Polish, cargo travels via Kutno and Gliwice to Ukraine (6 times a week).

Construction of the terminal began in the spring of 2010, and the grand opening took place on September 30, 2011. In the summer of 2014, the operating area doubled after the expansion, in the spring of 2015 two gantry cranes were added, and in 2023 three more modern handling facilities were added.

Located in central Poland, the facility lies at the crossroads of key transport routes connecting Poland with Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Ukraine. The terminal, invariably, has also been an important element of logistics in the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor for the next decade.

In addition to five cranes (three of which are semi-automatic), eight mobile reachstacker machines operate at the terminal. The team of over 80 people consists of experienced operators, logisticians, planners, mechanics, drivers, dispatchers, auditors. Thanks to the operation of the terminal, Kutno is an important center for intermodal operations for the TSL industry.

The project of building the Terminal in Kutno as an integral part of the PCC Intermodal connection network was created on the idea and initiative of the Company’s Management Board: President Dariusz Stefański, who created the vision and developed the business concept of the facility’s operation, and Vice President Adam Adamek, who managed the process of designing and building the terminal. The Project Manager for the implementation of the investment was Marcin Sosiński. Since the beginning of its operation, the terminal has been managed by the Director – Wojciech Skrzypiński.

The investment was financed from EU funds under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programmes in the years 2007-2020:
